Press Release

MPIRE REVEALS FIRST LOOK AT ‘SHOPWAVE’ FROM MPIRE LABS

Visual Shopping Tool Builds on Mpire’s Innovation and Vision of Creating a Universal Shopping Experience

Today, Mpire launched two new programs – Shopwave and its “universal shopping experience” – both of which are intended for the fragmented shopping styles of today’s online consumer. Whether someone is a store browser, a site jumper, a spontaneous buyer or has a style somewhere in between, they all can turn to Mpire for an innovative, refined and streamlined shopping experience.

Shopwave is a tool spawned from Mpire Labs, a project-based initiative that builds new technologies for online shopping. Shopwave is designed to offer extensive visual online browsing versus traditional list-oriented shopping, and like other Labs projects to come, it will be regularly updated and refined, based on user feedback and input. The Mpire Plug-In, launched earlier this year, was the first project from Mpire Labs.

The “universal shopping experience” gives buyers an easier way to find products and deals online. The service makes Mpire one of the first to aggregate new and auction marketplaces, pricing data, reviews, coupons and a social media widget, all in one. Complementing Mpire’s existing price research data pulled from sites such as eBay, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Gap, Shopping.com and thousands more, the universal shopping experience includes the following new features:

Reviews, Expanded Social Media: A mashup of Amazon and Epinions reviews gives shoppers unbiased insights, while an expanded widget lets users export shopping information to blogs, wikis and social bookmarking sites.

Coupons & Deals: Relevant coupons are embedded within search results to give people instant savings on products from Dell, Apple, Circuit City, Red Envelope, Travelocity and thousands more.

Mpire Plug-In: The popular Mpire Plug-In is now available for IE7! When shoppers visit sites other than Mpire, the Mpire Plug-In automatically displays Mpire’s price research and coupons, giving them tools to make informed buying decisions. Also available for Firefox 2.0

Matt Hulett, CEO of Mpire: "Today marks a major milestone in Mpire’s ongoing vision of creating a more unified and simplified online shopping experience. Regardless of the type of shopper visiting Mpire, we are able to provide a beneficial experience, whether through our Shopwave or our universal shopping experience.

What further differentiates Mpire is the fact that we are the one shopping service that blends new, auction and classifieds marketplaces, and displays historic pricing data in a user-friendly and contextual way.”
