SEATTLE – January 17, 2008 –Online display advertising is about to get a whole lot smarter – and easier for publishers to manage. WidgetBucks http://widgetbucks.com), one of the Internet’s fastest growing ad networks, is currently offering and testing widgets that dynamically adjusts their display and ad model type to deliver the highest yield for publishers and reduce their ad serving decisions.
According to a JP Morgan report released earlier this month, online display advertising is expected to jump 20 percent to $8.6 billion this year, and WidgetBucks’ proprietary ad widget technology gives publishers increased ability to tap into that boom.
For instance, one "smart" ad widget is YieldSense™, a contextual, pay-per-click (PPC) unit that displays the highest yielding product categories and ad creative based on a revenue score that is automatically generated from past performance. Several WidgetBucks’ top publishers – members of its Customer Council – are beta testing YieldSense technology, which will be widely available in February.
Today, more than 40,000 WidgetBucks global publishers are using another self-optimizing widget that delivers either a PPC or cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM) ad, depending on the geographic location of the site visitor. For example, users viewing the site in Seattle see a PPC ad widget, while users in Singapore see a CPM ad.
Later this month, WidgetBucks also begins pre-roll advertising that appears momentarily before its shopping widget, giving brands the ability to market within specific product categories, such as electronics, video games and computers.
"WidgetBucks has impressed us with its innovation, scalability and smart-ad technology, and YieldSense is another example of how they continue to provide revenue opportunity for Web publishers," said Dan Nichols, president of AdMedian, which is testing YieldSense.
"While 2007 was the Year of the Widget, we see 2008 as the Year of the Ad Widget," said Matt Hulett, CEO and president of Mpire, the company behind WidgetBucks. "With ad serving decisions becoming increasingly complex, our single strand of java script does all the heavy lifting to help publishers hold a higher standard than that being offered by traditional ad networks today."
